DESCRIPTION:
APW - Hamilton, "Oregon Electric Special" marked mvt and dial, Grade 926, 17J, 18S, gold-filled OF recase with attractive engraving detail, white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, gilt mvt screws and regulator assembly, nickel damascene, s#638302. A rare electric railroad marked watch, the Oregon Electric Railway was an interurban line that began service in 1908 and continued passenger operations until 1933. This serial number is listed in the Hamilton ledger as having been sold July 3rd, 1909 to A.C. Feldenheimer of Portland, Oregon. Watch comes with a charming leather and chrome-plated base metal holster and gun fob, and leather portion is marked "Stanton 1913" and "Electric R.R.." From the well-known Hamilton collection of Robert Bennett of Olivehurst, California.
CONDITION:
Mvt: NR, ticking in dial up position but stopping when turned dial down, overhaul needed, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, few scattered fine to micro-fine scratches; dial with faint hl below seconds-register at 5:30, edge flaking under bezel at 1:30; excellent hands; case shows little wear, mild very shallow dent toward upper right of rear, attractive engraving detail with mild reduction; tight bow, crown shows light wear; good glass crystal.
